2012 Macon County Rabies Clinic
Saturday, May 5th 1pm-3pm
Clinic Vaccination Price:$18.00 per vaccination (1 Year Vaccines). Immediate Registration and Tags issued for all city and county residents.

Registration Fee: $50.00 for unaltered pets, $15.00 for altered pets and $15.00 for pets under 1 year of age.

Vaccination of your pet(s) is required by state law! Protect your pet and your family by taking advantage of this years Rabies Clinic.

Fiona finds her place in life

Fiona was looked over so many times at the shelter, because she was one of countless pit bulls that reside in the Macon County Animal Shelter. During the “Home for the Holiday” program, Fiona’s day had come!!! Leslie Kinney swooped her up to take home and foster. Once she arrived at the Kinney home, she was introduced to two other 4 legged siblings who welcomed her with open arms. Needless to say, she is now a permanent fixture in the Kinney home!! Good luck to you and we are so greatful for people like you! Fiona is in the middle of the family picture..

Kennel & healthcare grants for cancer patients

Every day, in communities across the US, a bond is broken. It’s the bond between people and their pets, resulting in millions of pets being surrendered to shelters each year. Little has been known about the reasons why until now.

In a recent study conducted by the National Council on Pet Population Study and Policy (NCPPSP), and published in the July issue of the Journal of Applied Animal Welfare Science (JAAWS), researchers went into 12 selected animal shelters in the United States for one year to find out why.

The results of the study show that the top seven reasons for relinquishment of both dogs and cats are the same. One of those reasons is the illness of an owner. We have developed a program to keep that from being one of the Top 10 Reasons for surrendering an animal in Macon County.

The most important thing is that we keep you and your pet together, so the Decatur &

Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation, along with Delong Bed & Biscuit and Bel-Aire Pet Clinic, are offering your pet(s) a free stay during your treatment period as well as yearly discounted vaccinations. There are

requirement guidelines that must be met.

Santa Photo’s At PETSMART

Santa will be at PETSMART for a few photo sessions, before he begins delivering his gifts to all the good little dogs and cats. Please bring your pet out to the PETSMART in Forsyth and join in for a picture of your pet(s) with Santa in a Christmas frame. All proceeds benefit the Animal Foundation, your local homeless animals.

This Saturday, October 29th, at 10:00am, Dogtoberfest will take place inside the new, highly anticipated dog park in Nelson Park.
Everyone is invited to come to the event – you do not need to be a member of the dog park to enjoy the morning.
There will be a pet parade and costume costume. Prizes and ribbons will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place dog costumes in a small and a large category.
Complimentary treats from Millie and Bo’s Barkery will be given to all attendees.
Bring your camera! There will be a Halloween backdrop for you to be able to photograph your family members – 2 legged and 4 legged
