Thanks to Mt. Zion High School Art Student for their submissions for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

DOVE and the DMCASF sponsored a student art project to raise awareness for is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  “Across the country, the majority of battered women report violence toward their pets, often as a way for the abuser to psychologically control or coerce his victims,” says Teri Ducy of the Dove Domestic Violence Program.  She points out that pets are a great source of comfort and emotional support for many victims of  abuse.  “To take a stand against violence, it’s important to raise awareness of the sad link between domestic violence and animal abuse.”  The artwork will be displayed during October at Donnie’s Homespun Pizza and Heritage Behavioral Health Center in Decatur.  Check it out!
